Short answer

An e-commerce shipping service ships orders from online sales abroad individually or in bulk, declares them as micro exports with the ETGB up to the 600 kg and €30,000 limits, and shares the tracking number with the seller so it can be entered on the marketplace.

2026 rules for selling to the EU and the US

In 2025–2026 the rules for low-value shipments changed in two major markets, and this directly affects e-commerce sellers:

  • European Union: since 1 July 2026, a €3 customs duty per product category applies to shipments under €150. Detailed guide
  • USA: the de minimis exemption for shipments under $800 has been suspended since 29 August 2025. Detailed guide
Take these new taxes into account in your pricing and state clearly on your product pages who pays the taxes; this reduces the risk of refused deliveries and negative reviews.

Frequently asked questions

How do I ship my Etsy orders abroad?

After you pack the order and issue your export invoice, the shipment is collected from your address, declared as a micro export with the ETGB and you receive the tracking number, which you enter on Etsy.

Is a separate ETGB filed for each order?

Usually a separate declaration is filed for each shipment (buyer). If you have many orders, we can plan the process around bulk shipping.

When is the marketplace tracking number provided?

The tracking number is sent to you once the shipment is collected and processed; we recommend entering it on the same day to protect the marketplace's delivery time indicators.

Will my customer pay customs duty?

By default, the destination country's taxes are collected from the buyer. With an IOSS registration for the EU or duties-paid (DDP) shipping, you can prevent your customer from paying on delivery.
