Short answer
Turkish sellers selling abroad on Amazon use two models: with FBM, each order goes directly from Türkiye to the buyer by express courier and the tracking number is uploaded to Seller Central. With FBA, products are sent in bulk to Amazon's warehouses abroad; Amazon does not act as importer for these shipments, so the import, tax and document responsibility lies with the seller.
FBM or FBA?
| Criterion | FBM (seller shipping) | FBA (Amazon warehouses) |
|---|---|---|
| Shipping | Each order from Türkiye to the buyer by express courier | Products in bulk to the Amazon warehouse in the target country |
| Delivery time to the buyer | Typically 2–5 business days with express service | Local delivery from the warehouse; Prime advantage |
| Stock risk | Low — stock stays in Türkiye | High — stock is abroad and storage fees apply |
| Customs and taxes | Each shipment is declared separately; destination taxes per order | Bulk import; importer responsibility lies with the seller |
| Best for | New products, low volumes, wide product ranges | Best-selling, standard-sized products |
How to ship from Türkiye with FBM
- 1Receive the order
View your Amazon order in Seller Central, with the buyer's address and phone number.
- 2Pack
Put the product in a sturdy box suitable for international transport; an Amazon-branded box is not required.
- 3Prepare the documents
Prepare the invoice and product details (description, quantity, value, HS code); the shipment leaves as a micro export with an ETGB.
- 4Ship and upload the tracking number
After handing over the shipment, enter the tracking number and carrier in Seller Central.
- 5Follow the delivery
Follow destination customs and delivery; if there is a problem, inform the buyer proactively.
For seller-fulfilled orders, Amazon measures the valid tracking rate and on-time delivery. Entering a realistic handling time and transit time keeps your late delivery rate low.
Shipments to FBA warehouses: what to watch out for
- Importer of Record: Amazon does not act as importer; in the US you or an importer you authorise must act as importer, and in the EU you need an importer with an EORI number and a VAT registration in the storage country.
- Labelling: products must carry an FNSKU label and boxes the shipment (box) label generated by Amazon.
- Shipment plan: boxes sent without a shipment plan created in Seller Central may be refused by the warehouse.
- Box content information: the products and quantities in each box must be entered correctly in the system.
| Market | Maximum box dimensions | Maximum box weight |
|---|---|---|
| USA (from 20 June 2025) | 36 × 25 × 25 inches (about 91 × 63.5 × 63.5 cm) | 50 lb (about 22.7 kg) |
| Europe | 63.5 cm on each side | 23 kg — boxes over 15 kg need a "Team Lift / Heavy Package" label |
There are exceptions for single oversized items. As Amazon updates its terms often, check the current requirements in Seller Central.
Taxes and customs on Amazon sales (2026)
- EU: Amazon collects VAT on consumer sales of up to €150; since 1 July 2026, these shipments are also charged €3 of customs duty per product category.
- UK: Amazon collects VAT on sales of up to £135.
- USA: as the de minimis exemption is suspended, customs duty is calculated on every FBM order; since July 2026, an extra 12.5% tariff applies to most goods of Turkish origin. Amazon collects state sales tax.
- FBA shipments: in bulk imports, customs duty and import VAT are paid by the importer; in the EU, this VAT can be deducted in the VAT return.

Packing tips for Amazon sellers
- The outer box should surround the product with at least a few centimetres of space on every side, filled with filling material.
- Use double boxing for fragile items; for FBA, follow Amazon's prep rules for fragile products.
- Avoid unnecessarily large boxes: the price is based on the greater of the volumetric and the actual weight.
- For products containing liquids, batteries or aerosols, check the transport rules (such as an MSDS) before shipping.
